A couple of my post haven’t shown up in the “White Privilege” thread… FYI

FYI, they were caught in the spam filter, for some reason.

Perhaps society needs to go further and actively promote birth control and more active rewards for moving in the direction of middle class values of delayed parenthood, two parent families, and a more traditional lifestyle. ,

I read your article about how whites have no empathy.

    1. Whites? Which “whites”? British, Irish, Slovakians, Germans…? I didn’t realize “white” was a pure race without any deferentiation. Did they test the “whites” to make sure they were pure”white”

2.What equipment was used to measure these mirrored responses? Sounds like a lot of BS and drawn conclusions.

    3. How can you come to any conclusion without testing against other “brown” people.

Your an obvious reverse racist looking for payback because of the many studys showing lower IQ in “brown” people.

  6. numol Says:

@Chris: How’s that unexamined privilege working out for you? There’s no such thing as “reverse racism”, which you would know if you knew how to use logic. If you have a problem with the study, go whine at the people who conducted it. And while you’re at it, why don’t you mention how Western societies systematically brainwash everyone into thinking us Whites are subhuman… oh, wait.

Since the study was mentioned on this blog I don’t see why Chris shouldn’t comment on it. And the point he made was perfectly valid. After all, if someone is going to misuse a study to imply something the study doesn’t support then it’s reasonable to criticize the person misusing the study rather than those who conducted it.

  8. fred Says:

Rather than engage in honest discussion, restructure chooses to regurgitate the same erroneous themes while ignoring and ultimately censoring those with whom she disagrees. Nothing indicates the weakness of her position more than her inability to defend it.

Doesn’t “fred” count as violating #6 by now? I’m tired of reading his annoying posts…

Yeah, but according to the rules, he just gets ignored…

Some very provocative comments by a White blogger who inadvertently exposes the ways in which White identity – privilege reconstitute its meaning and power in its refusal to be named and cross-examined.

The blogger Chris first takes OFFENSE at being identified by race, as being racially and socially White, but then proceeds to name and displace the identity onto the myriad national, ethnic/cultural and linguistic distinctions behind that European social category.

Then he further accuses Restructure of “reverse racism” for “naming” and “framing” him within his Caucasoid / socially constructed racial group.

In identifying the national differences of British, Irish, Slovakians, Germans” he also inadvertently points to the hierarchal / hegemonic notions between Whites—-with Anglo-Saxon Whites heading his list.

He does not bother to interrogate the hotly contested historical legacy that Irish and Slovakians were once NOT considered “White”—i.e. vis-à-vis Anglo-Saxons and Nordic Germans. These former two ethnic groups only “became White” when they IMMIGRATED to North America in the late 19th century, assimilated and became accepted members of the White race vis-à-vis darker-skinned African and Asian peoples by the mid-20th century.

We could also add ethnic Jews, Poles, Italians and Greeks as other “off-White” peoples to the mix who had were once rejected outsiders who had to “prove” their Whiteness / Caucasoid membership within the White mainstream.

Chris also invokes the rhetoric of “PURITY” another trope / ideological discourse of White supremacy, the same dogma mobilized by the Nazis.

The same miscegenation “one-drop” dictum of “blood” was also deployed in North America against “half-breed” Native and “mulatto” Afro-Americans in excluding them assimilation and enfranchisement .

One of the great problems with Whites is they are also the group that doesn’t want to interrogate the power dynamics behind White identity. They also don’t bother to make distinctions of culture and ethnicity among people from the continent of Asia—preferring to mobilize the stereotype catch-all word “Oriental” that exempts them from making those same national, territorial and linguistic differences that they demand People of Colour observe.

I would suggest that Chris and other White supremacist bloggers read a book about this long and violent history:

Get Educated! All the books can be applied to a Canadian context:

The History Of White People by Nell Painter (Mar 2 2010)

A Paler Shade of White: The History of White People in America. Martin Mull (1986)

White by Law: The Legal Construction of Race [2006]
    Ian Haney-Lopez

How the Irish Became White [2008]
    Noel Ignatiev

How Jews Became White Folks: And What That Says about Race in America Karen Brodkin (2002)

America’s Immigrant Press: How the Slovaks Were Taught to Think Like White People Through Their Newspapers by Robert M. Zecker (2011)

    Miscegenation: Making Race in America
    Elise Lemire (2002)

The Fugitive Race: Minority Writers Resisting Whiteness
    Stephen P. Knadler (2002)
