About

I am a heterosexual, cisgender, and currently able-bodied Canadian woman of colour. I am a Canadian-born, second-generation visible minority.

The original intention of this blog was to make use of the “illusion of objectivity” and avoid the words “I” and “we” as much as possible in my posts. I attempt to throw off the white gaze and the male gaze from myself, and to throw the gaze on to whites and males, among others.

I try to reframe the discussion and restructure knowledge.

I’m a geek who tries to break it down for geeks who can’t read between the lines.

I am one of the complainants against Maclean’s magazine. I appreciate your take on the whole issue — unlike most, you actually understand the real issues involved and refuse to get caught up in the web of distraction that others, like Steyn himself, are attempting to weave around the complaints. I would love to get in touch with you to see if you would be interested in finding out more information about our complaints, or whether you would be willing to help us out with them. Let me know — and thanks again.

Thanks. I blog about random things. I get bothered when people misunderstand a more complex point and misinterpret it as an oversimplified, stupid, or stereotypical argument. You can email me more information about your complaints or post the info as comments on the relevant posts.

    Hi Torontonian,

I posted this on Racialicious, but just in case you don’t go back and check, this is the study on 2nd generation Canadians and feelings of belonging:

Jeffrey G. Reitz and Rupa Banerjee, “Racial Inequality, Social Cohesion, and Policy Issues in Canada.” In Belonging? Diversity, Recognition and Shared Citizenship in Canada, edited by Keith Banting, Thomas J. Courchene, and F. Leslie Seidle. Montreal: Institute for Research on Public Policy, 2007. Pp. 489-545.

Restructure, I left a thread at SWPS that’s caught in the spam filter, I guess…

    Nquest,

Sorry, I couldn’t find the comment. I’ve upgraded you to administrator status, so hopefully it will prevent future problems… You can check the spam filter yourself now to see if you can find it.

    Hi there!

I found your blog and I will continue to read more of your work! My blog is temporarily “invite-only” but I will add your email address to the list of invited guests so you can check it out whenever you’d like! (A google account is required to access it, I think! I am not even sure! *shrugs*)

    Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!
